Some goals for 2012 (which I usually refuse to have)
1. Work with B on his reading nightly
2. exercise
3. put together snack bags for kids of healthy snacks they can get out of a basket in the pantry themselves (read this on pinterest)
4. fix myself up more rather then wear sweats all the time.
5. refuse to believe that my back wont get better.
Tonight when I was laying with B in his bed he says "Mom why are you still going to the doctor when they aren't fixing you? you should tell them to fix you. " I told him I do tell them that and he says "Then you should yell it because they aren't fixing you and I want your back better so you can play baseball with me". : (

Scrapbooks
I enjoy scrapbooking. It is a way to ease tension, to feel like I am doing something productive to show love to my family, to make others happy etc. As B would call it "my cave time". I hope some day my kids and family will cherish all of my albums I have so lovingly put together. I put so many hours into them. More then anyone could imagine (except maybe Jayme who is usually with me haha).

Wii fun
I take ALOT of pictures. So i was going thru my pictures on my computer to save them to a disk so I would have more memory on my computer and I found this picture of B and I. Such a cutie pie. We were at the skating rink and he just loved it.
Today has been a lazy day with the kids playing with their Christmas toys and me making yummy food to eat. Right now the kids are playing Skylanders which is M's fav game with their Dad. I played it this morning and it is actually a pretty cool Wii game. I am usually not a fan of the video games now adays since they are usually so hard with one button doing five things. But the Wii is such a neat game since it puts all the games at a more fair level no matter if you are five or fifty. B and I bowled too which is fun.

Christmas weekend
I took the boys to Cheekwood (thanks to my mom buying us a membership for Christmas) on a beautiful day a week or so ago and this is one of the pictures of the pretty trees out there.
It has been a great weekend. Graham and Michelle got here yesterday. Also the J Grandparents came. We had a wonderful dinner tonight. B made his first turkey which was great. Aunt M and M have been playing Dance Party the last two days which has been so funny. They are braver dancing to that game then me! Now it is board game time. Kids have opened gifts from their J Grandparents and aunt. My belly is full and its only 548!

Family bonding
When I was a kid we use to do puzzles with my Dad. He was always good at them. Me not so good. haha. But M has always liked to do them. In this pic the kids stopped long enough to help Grandpa some on his big puzzle. I love when the kids get to bond with their grandparents, aunts uncles, etc...

Their sweet hearts
I love Christmas. I know everyone says that but I really do. It's a time for family. It's a time to talk to your kids about Jesus. It's a time to teach your kids to help others. I say this (only so some day the kids will be reminded of the things they did as a kid, more so, then to tell others who read my blog). I print my blog out each year to give to my kids some day when they are older so they can be reminded.... The kids adopted a kid at church. We bought him clothes and toys. We also did a box for two kids. Both boys went to the store and picked out enough things to fill a shoe box. We also adopted a friends family that is struggling this year. The kids went thru their toys and gave them some. They also told them they could have their big kitchen set. We collected clothes from friends for them. I pray that all of these people will be blessed by my kids. My kids never walk by the Salvation Army ringing their bell with their bucket without putting their own money in it. (they keep their money in the car , like change from their piggy banks in case we go somewhere they can get something out of the quarter machine.) I always hope I teach them good values and some day they will be able to help others when they are adults. I hope they can always appreciate what they have and pass it on to others. I hope I am teaching them what they need to know. I think of how my parents did good teaching me and I wonder how they did it. I just pray for my kids. Good,
giving kids. I pray they remember the things they did when they were little and continue to bless others with their hearts.

Our Day
I am falling asleep writing this but since I had been out of town atmoms the last couple nights I thought I had better write tonight. The boys and I had a great time visiting with everyone. B bonded with Grandad over some money he found and some puzzle pieces. We went skating with a few of our friends and then came home and I scrapbooked with J while kids watched a Christmas movie with A.

Remember when...
Sometimes when I am trying to decide what to write about I browse my pictures. They always make me smile. This one especially did because it is what B wrote about me when he was in preschool. I also remember when M did it in preschool. He answered the questions all right (even my age) and put at the end that I always call him "Handsome" because i always did when he was little.

Busy Friday
This has been a crazy busy day. Kids only went to school for two hrs. Seems silly to make them only go for two hours! After I picked them up they went to the dr with me. Then we raced home to make my potato bake I took to my work party. Then we raced to haircut appointment for the three of us. Then back home for 30min. before we got B and headed to piano lessons with the boys. We sat in the car for 30min while the had their lesson. Then we got to Docs party. We had to leave a little early because we had to take B to basketball practice. So we got home about 845 and I got straight into bed after putting them to bed. Whoooooo....I am tired!

Winter party
Today the boys had their Winter parties. (it is sad that we have to call them that instead of Christmas parties is all i have to say about that) I helped plan them both so ran from one to the other. B's class has so many parents willing to help. That is a real blessing for the teacher who fits my sons personality so good and deserves all the help. It also helps me because I can spread myself between two classes more easier. M's teacher has a little help . today my buddy L and I helped the kids make (and I think of my mother in law when i say this) Nutter Butter reindeer and Marshmellow reindeer dipped in chocolate. Oh yes, I said DIPPED in chocolate. Ok, so i did eat some but really don't i deserve to? L and I had fun. The kids are so darn cute and I love that I know the kids that my kids hang out with. It means alot to me. The hugs are becoming less in 2nd grade then they are in K but I guess the kids are getting cooler as they get older haha. I do still get some hugs but less of them. The kids are great though. The kids all brought in little gifts to put into a big stocking their teacher made for them. We send in HoHoHo bubbles, some sent in candy, slap bracelets, compass rings, etc... WEll the winner of the day sent in whoopie cushions. yes, you heard me right. The kids loved these. Especially mine. I saw kids crack up laughing that hardly show emotion! The kids were rolling laughing about this. And their teacher is so cool that even she got into it. How blessed we are with the teachers we have had so far.
B's class made ornaments, decorated cookies (huge ones that B of course ate all of), made reindeer food and snowman food, played bingo, etc. Fun day for the kids. Two of the kids in his class gave me presents! I was shocked! A boy that is buddies with B told me he told his mom to get my the gift. Is that not the sweetest thing! Wow.

The boys and I
Took the boys to Cheekwood today to see the trains, Wild West theme and Christmas trees. Mom got us a membership for Christmas which is great since we can go when we want. The boys like to run around outside and it was a beautiful December day for that. Tomorrow its supposed to be 64! Wow.

Reindeer cupcakes
The boys and I made these reindeer cupcakes for their school parties. M was really good at making the antlers out of the pretzels and B liked putting on the nose and eyes.

Cookie swap
B is cracking me up right now. I just went thru the Halloween candy since I give my brother a big thing of it every year. (this year its really big) And so I organized it in our pantry with stuff we will keep, stuff to give to church, stuff to put in bro gift bag etc....so B comes in and notices I am putting candy in U Scotts basket. So I tell him we have plenty and we should share with him (always teaching sharing) so he just went thru the pantry (our candy is in a shoe divider hanging on the back of pantry door) and put all the Starburst in a separate slot. So funny.
The kids and I went to church today. Then I went with 4 friends to a cookie swap. We all had to make cookies and bring an ornament to exchange. Girls time. Good time.

Home movies
We had the most wonderful family night. The four of us watched home movies of previous Christmases for about 3 hours. (among other videos here and there) We had a picnic in the living room and popcorn. The kids said it was one of the best days ever. I have to admit some of the videos made B and I choke up of them little. M always looking out for B. Always so sweet and our buddies. One of the best was M singing the opposite of "he knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake..."

I love decorating the tree with the kids. I love to listen to Christmas music with them. I love making traditions.

Two of my favorite things....Christmas and Family! : )
The boys and I met Grandma and Aunt K and K at the mall so the kids could ride a free reindeer merry go round, play archery, bb guns, etc. for free in Santas Winterland. They also got their picture with him. Then we had dinner. Great time as usual. Love them.

December weekend
What a busy weekend. Saturday I took the boys to their school Santa Breakfast. Then we went to the library. Then both boys had basketball games. M's team won while B's team lost but it was a close game which is all we can ask for. Both boys had steals and B got to bring the ball down the court. B was very nervous since it was his first game and all. Then we went to a Christmas party where the kids every year exchange gifts with their friends. Today the boys and i got up for church. Afterwards B took them to Grandpa's and he went and bought the Christmas tree while I went to paint with friends. When I got home we all decorated the tree and house. Looks so pretty now. The boys and I danced around and sang some Christmas songs. Their Daddy sang a little Elvis since that is his fav. We reminisced over each ornament and who made it or who it came from. And we have alot of ornaments with lots of memories from the boys being born ones to some that my Mom gave me from when I was 8 years old. I love to look at each one every year.

Today
So I cooked the last few nights. Beef Stroganof, Vegetable beef soup, and chicken poppyseed. All crockpot recipes with salad on the side and some bread or grilled cheese. So today we had 1.99 kids meals at Sonic! the kids wanted to go to the library after school so we hit storytime and their yearly scholastic book fair. Then B and I played War and later B and M and I played Operation. They got grounded from video games and tv this week but I think its good because they are actually playing with board games alot now. I helped at the boys school today and now am going to bed.

School
B in his dance class at school dancing.
I was so proud of him doing his homework tonight. He has gotten so much better at writing and reading. He seems to have an interest in math just like his brother did when he was young. I love to see how much he is improving and he is so proud of himself.

Today
So I found out THIS morning that M's teachers bday was today. A friend from the class called to tell me. So I went and bought a cake and interrupted her class to tell her to leave for 5minutes so the kids could sign her card. OH MY. I love these kids, I have known alot of them since Kindergarten but how the teacher keeps control of them is beyond me haha! They are so sweet and hug me and everything but they got so excited today about the cake and card that I thought the principal might come down the hall because they were so loud and I had to keep telling them to quiet down! And that was with me in control for 10minutes! I finally told them I'd get kicked out and never get to come back if they weren't quieter. So funny.

Football
It's so much fun watching the boys play sports. I really enjoyed watching them play flag football at Masons bday party last week. First time for the boys to play that. Basketball starts up this upcoming weekend. After a long weekend in GA enjoying being with the family , it is time to go back to the real world again tomorrow.

Teachers
M was telling me at school last week that he had the best teacher ever and how fun she is. I feel lucky that we have had such a good teachers for my kids. That makes such a huge difference. Both kids have had teachers that fit their personalities so well. I have always prayed they will get the teacher they need and thankfully they have.

Remember
I love my boys more then life. I love to look back at their pictures and remember all our fun times. I know we run around and do stuff constantly but I think they love it and I do too. I pray they will always remember our fun times together. That is why I put so much time into my pictures and albums, and scrapbooks. So someday they can look back on them and remember the
details. I don't know if they can ever know how much my heart swells with love for them but maybe they can atleast see a touch of it by looking at the pictures and remembering.

Memories
Today I took the boys to the park. We are at my mother in laws for Thanksgiving and somewhere over the years I started taking the kids to the park in her neighborhood on Thanksgiving day to let them run off some energy! We take a long walk next to the park up and down this big hill thru really tall brush. The kids love it. It was a gorgeous day too. Dinner was wonderful as usual.
The kids watched a movie tonight in their room while the adults watched one downstairs.
Whenever I take the kids picture it is always sweet to me that they put their arms around each other. I have probably blogged about this before it seems but I just think it is cute that I have never told them to do this but they just do it. So I have alot of pictures of them hugging each other. I miss when they use to hold hands in the back of the car when B was little. M use to walk B around to make sure he didnt fall. Anyway, this picture is from back when they were little. Sweet memories. Thanksgiving is always a big memory day !

Food
The boys were talking at dinner time about who cooked stuff the best. They said that Daddy makes the best pancakes, chocolate pie and meats. (hotdogs, chicken, hamburger and steaks were some) Mommy makes the best mashed potatoes (according to M) and the best cookies and cakes (along with Nana too). Mommy makes the best sausage balls. Nana makes the best grilled cheese.

Pilgrim day
B did good at his play today. He said bang bang everytime they talked about the pilgrims. He is usually quiet and doesnt sing at school stuff but today he sang and said his parts. I was so proud of him.
Helped in M's class this morning while they did their Pilgrim Chores. They made dolls out of corn husks, made cornbread, made butter, ground cinnamon and other spices, and other pilgrim chores. It was pretty neat and the kids and I had fun making the butter. We made up a butter dance since the kids danced around shaking their little jars filled with heavy cream that turned into butter.

Today we were walking into Kroger and the Salvation Army had a bell ringer collecting money in the hanging pot like they do every year at Christmas time. M put a dollar in the can. This was his money that he had kept in the car. : )

Great weekend
M had a great bday party. They got to play video games, eat chili and hotdogs, cupcakes, and break A. Kelly's cool pinata in the shape of a tank. Everytime we think she can't possibly do better then last year she does! He had a bunch of his buddies and family there. Then after the party the boys rode the go-carts with Grandpa, their
Dad and Dawson and some other friends. The pictures I took are hilarious of how much fun they had.
Afterwards we celebrated my Dad and brothers bday with Jets YUM pizza and caramel pie. Great family day!

I helped at the school today. Very interesting running between the boys two classes. After school the boys had piano. Then we bought B new shoes, went to get balloons for party tomorrow, ran to Walmart, got home and changed and off to basketball practice. Came home and scrapbooked with J while B and A played. M had gone to friends house for couple hrs. I am falling asleep writing this so gotta get to bed and be ready for the big party tom!

Big day
I made a caramel pie for M's bday today and his dad made filet for dinner. When I asked M what he wanted for his bday dinner he said, "Daddy's steak and your famous mashed potatoes". It was a very busy night. We hit the store right after school, ran home, did homework, ate dinner, went to basketball practice (leaving dishes on table we were so rushed) and then came home, sang happy bday, had pie, baths and bed. (yes I did clean kitchen finally). M had a big day. He loved his cards, gifts and calls from his family. This morning he asked if I was helping at his school since it was his bday and I said no because I am helping tomorrow since you wanted me to be there for your Veterans day program. And he says to me that he just assumed I would know he wanted me there and could I atleast come for lunch with him. The caramel pie takes 3hrs to make so I was running out the door with the caramel cooling and the crusts in the oven telling B what to do with it all while I ran to have lunch with M. Thankfully the pies survived thanks to B. (one also for my brother and Dads bday party we have after M's Saturday) I can't believe 8yrs have gone by.

Tomorrow he takes cookies to school and wears his official "bday boy" award on his shirt, then we get home and his dad will cook steaks for dinner. then basketball practice. Then his big party on Saturday.

Change
Thanking God for my husband and kids. I emailed my church family and told them we were visiting somewhere else and I got 3responses back that were so nice and one about made me cry. Made me very proud of Michael to read one of the emails and what a joy he is in class. I will have to print the email out so he can have it in his scrapbook. It has been a long decision process and I have prayed the whole way. Driving 30min and sitting for an hour on a hard pew makes me in pain and sometimes I have to lay in bed for two hours afterwards which then ruins the day. Going to this new church will allow us to be 10minutes away and a later service which is good for our family. (since we aren't early birds haha) I love the childrens program there. It is really big and hard to get use to but the kids programs and outstanding. They are very family oriented. But I will miss my other church family. The boys said we have to go back and visit them.. Hurts my heart. We've gone to RH since before the kids were born.

Basketball
Tonight B had his first basketball practice and loved it. This picture I am posting is of the boys when we went for our yearly "playing in the leaves" day at the Sam Davis home. M picked out this hat when we were in GA so we had to get it for both boys and I incorporated it into the Fall picture. The boys love to play in the leaves there. It is so beautiful this time of year. We have gone there since they were little bitty. The boys love to play on the giant stump that is left of a huge tree that was cut down. The boys built a pile of leaves and jumped in it and M even did a leaf angel.

I am falling asleep sitting here writing this. The boys got to talk to their Nana and make sure she received the two birthday cards we sent her. They also thanked her for sending them Halloween cards with money in it. they get all excited. Then we went to M's first basketball practice for the season. he has two good buddies on his team and he likes this coach alot from last year. Originally the board had assigned M to a Wed night practicing team and I told them woah, no. we have church on wed night and cant miss it for 3months so they moved us to Johns team which I think will be good for M. We will meet B's coach tomrrow night and then celebrate our anniversary sometime this weekend with dinner.

Halloween
I love that my husband likes Halloween like my boys. I made mummy hotdogs and corn for dinner. Then I took the kids down the our road to trick or treat. Then hubby takes them the rest of the neighborhood while I hand out candy. (his idea) We had about 10 visitors but my kids got SOOOOO much candy and I still had half a bowl left of candy (not to mention all the chocolate I got on sale in the cupboard) It makes my heart big that my hubby likes to take the kids around the block. We tried to scare them after school with him jumping out but the kids didn't hardly flinch! And the kids were so sweet (especially B) giving us their candy afterwards.

Pumpkin carving
Here's our picture of the boys carving pumpkins Friday night. Saturday I took the boys to watch a football game because M's friend was on the team. Beautiful day. Then we went to a birthday party. Then I took the boys to the park to trick or treat with some friends. After that 4 of us brave moms took 7kids out to dinner for mexican! It was fun though and we only had a couple spilled drinks between the 7!
Today all four of us went to church and then we brought B home. The boys and I met friends for lunch and then we did some shopping errands. New basketball shoes for the boys, paid for M's birthday party and bought the tokens, B some new jeans, etc.
Now I need to clean my messy kitchen from the tacos I made while the kids watched The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown with their Dad. Bummer. They have self cleaning ovens why not self cleaning kitchens? : )

Friday
Today I helped at the boys school. M had to stand in front of the class and do his big book report. Wow, it was a lot of work for the week. Then B had his big Halloween party that I planned. The kids had a big time. We have a great group of kids and parents. Kindergarten is such a fun year. Then tonight B carved 3 pumpkins. We carved one that looks just like M's smile with all his missing teeth! Now the pumpkin seeds are cooking for 2hrs in the oven. Geesh, they better be good!

Our busy Wednesday

On Sunday the boys and I visited a new church which is really close to our house. It is a big church but I was amazed how many people we knew there when we got there. B was pretty nervous about it and always tells me he wants to go to "our church". (mainly because he knows friends there) I've been praying to know if we should make the change or not and where we should go. But the older the kids get the more it would be nice to be close to home even though I like our church and have been there for a long time. I sat in the kids "kids church" to check it out and when it was over B said, "Can we come back next week?" Wow. Talk about making my heart happy for an answer.
Tonight when we got home from church and I was helping the kids get ready for bed B said that his chest hurt. I said on the inside or outside? He said outside so I looked and he has a little bruise there. I said, "Did you fall ?" He says, "Probably." (This made me laugh....probably....because he figures he probably did since he's always running around". : )
We had a very busy afternoon today. When I picked the kids up from school we went to the library because our books were due. Then the kids looked around for books. B said, "Where is the book fairy?" (meaning the librarian! Thought that was so cute) We know the librarian really good since we go there alot and have since the kids were practically born. I love our library and I love the kids like to go there. They have great programs there for them. So they have a storytime that was while we were there and the kids wanted to go. I hadnt planned on going there but since we were there we went ahead and the kids had fun listening to books and doing a craft. After that we sat outside on the grass under the pretty fall trees doing homework since it was so pretty out. I was really proud of B (we've been telling him to slow down and write neater at school) because while we were sitting there doing homework he said, "Mom, Ms. P wanted to hang my work on the wall but I told her I wanted you to see it." (Aww, sweet boy.)
By the time we got home it was only enough time for me to change out of my sweats (we hit Sonic for their 1.99 kids meal on the way home. Thank you for drive thru's for busy days). Then we went to our friends house to pick them up on the way to church. Now it is 846 and I am finally sitting down to write this. I hear the kids in my bed giggling so I should go tell them to go to bed. (they don't realize I can hear them so good!)

Pumpkins
This is the pumpkin that M picked out when we went last week on his fieldtrip to the farm. The kids had a blast. The place was huge and that was the first time M and I had been to that particular farm/pumpkin patch. Huge slides, all kinds of play stuff and a big corn maze.
This is the first year I decorated the outside and inside of the house up really fallish. The boys and I had gone to a pumpkin patch and bought a bunch of mums and medium size and small pumpkins . We also bought a scarecrow. I was getting my house ready for my Thirty One party I had tonight. It looked really festive.

For school, B is going to be star of the week. It begins by you bringing two stuffed rabbits named Benny and Bonnie home with you in a Cars suitcase. It holds their pj's , toothbrush and a journal that you are to fill out about your weekend with them. B is probably the fifth one to do this so we got to read the other kids weekends that they had with the bunnies. You also have to put pictures of you at different places with them. So tonight we started out with them at the Haunted Hayride. I took a pic of the boys holding them (I held them the rest of the time which I imagine will be the whole weekend) but this picture is taken at our house in front of our Halloween decorations with them.

Our Saturday in October
I took the boys to a bowling birthday party this morning. B's first one from kindergarten. they had a great time. Then we had lunch with friends and went to a street fair. Then came home and scrapbooked while the kids played. They should be exhausted, I know I am. B at the UT game with his buddies.
